Quote of the Day

Last Christmas I won a prize from a work raffle, it's what I like to call a "Jesus Calendar", which has a different quote everyday with something that is supposed to inspire me.  Well it's been many days since the beginning of the year and I finally found one that made me actually want to share it with a few other people.

While sitting in the passenger seat of my car while Tim was driving us home from the pet store, I finally realized that we were now starting a family.  I was now going to be what my mother has always been in my eyes, the woman of the house.  For a couple of months it was hard to factor that my relationship with my family was different.  I even referred to home as my parent's house, it was hard and I missed them.  

But for some reason that drive back home really settled in me that I am where my mother was 25 years ago.  A woman about to be married and start a family.  That Tim and I are much more than partners, we are an actual family ourselves.  And even though the families we grew up with move on and have their own lives, their love and devotion to us will live on in our new family together.

I'm going to end this blog with another quote that I love;

St. Mary's County Fair... YEEHAW!

This past Thursday Tim's boss gave him free tickets to the St. Mary's County fair, so we decided to make good use of them and go to it.  We put on our best southern accents and overalls and headed out (not really about the overalls, but Tim does a great southern accent).   I mainly just took pictures of the animals that were at the fair.  By that point my camera died so this was all I got.

First up...piggies.

As we were walking through the pig aisles one decided to pee out of the cage and into the middle of it.  This went on for literally two whole minutes.  I never knew pigs could drink so much :/.  Besides that and the stench, they were still cute.

Next up...bunnies :)

For the first rabbit, I've never seen such a fluffy one in my life.  No wonder this thing one first place.  He must have been really hot though.  The second rabbit reminded me of my pet rabbit Bugsy that my mom got from the fair when I was 10.  Made me want to buy one of them, except we already have two cats.  Maybe when we have kids I'll get them a rabbit so I can take care of it.

Poultry Time

My favorites were the George Washington ducks and that crazy looking chicken in the first picture.  I have no idea what kind of chicken that is...

Last but not least we have the cows.

I felt bad for the baby cow.  It seemed to be scared.  The second cow was huge!

There were also goats, sheep, llamas, and horses.  However my camera died.  After that we got some food and looked at the art and produce that the locals entered in.  Someone grew a 292 lb pumpkin. We had a lot of fun!

Renaissance Festival

Last weekend Tim and I took a brave trip up to Annapolis (Capital of MD) to go to the Renaissance Festival.  Even though we got lost along the way, we finally made it to discover that there were gazillions of people attending this thing.  I've never seen so many people in my life!  This is the entrance to the festival:

We walked around a little bit and saw a few comedy shows before we went to the main event....JOUSTING! HUZZAH! Which by the way is MD's official sport, thanks to Tim I now know more about my own home state.

This is the building where people stood and talked to us.  Unfortunately, we could not hear them, so we don't know what was going on.

The past few pictures were of the different Knights and their horses.  I can't remember which Knight was ours.  All I know is they had to be hot in those metal suits.

These two Knights are beating each other with sticks to prove strength.  None of my actual jousting pictures turned out great since the horses were to fast for my camera.  So this is the best I have.

 Here are all the Knights lined up at the end of the show.  All of the horses were very pretty.

So after jousting we decided to walk around some more.  There were a lot of interesting shops and interesting people to be seen.  Our favorite shop was a guy who made glass figurines of everything.  He had spiders, mosquitoes, people, flowers, and these...

And that's about it from the MD Renaissance Festival.  It was Tim's first time going and I think he had a good time.

Yeah I know the cats have it better than Tim or I do. I must say though that they are no longer receiving Christmas presents. So here's the big reveal:

As far as the wedding goes there really isn't anything new. Tim and I just got back from an awesome trip to Texas. We got to see mom and dad and most of the family. We were very sad to leave : ( Oh and if you're reading this my soon-to-be momma (but pretty much are momma) I cut Tim's hair with an electric razor. He loved it so much that he frequently told me how much I was hurting him the whole time while I was cutting his hair. No pictures though....and it's not a fade all one very short length. Not my fault though, he picked the number guard.
